Posidonia beaches: Sharing the experience on building knowledge and management plans from 7 Mediterranean sites

In the framework of the project, the Autonomous Region of Sardinia is organizing an event to be held online on the 14th of February 2022 that will focus on the transfer of results from 7 pilot sites and of best practices/approaches for the management of the Posidonia coastal area and its beaches with Posidonia banquettes.

Posbemed2 project main objective is to develop planning strategies that recognize the value of the Posidonia beach-dune environment and integrate them into the overall coastal strategy, while also addressing concerns and educating stakeholders. It further addresses key knowledge gaps, providing information that will enhance management decisions on adaptation, policies, planning and promotion in Protected Areas.

In the framework of the project, the Autonomous Region of Sardinia is organizing an event to be held online on the 14th of February 2022 that will focus on the transfer of results from 7 pilot sites and of best practices/approaches for the management of the Posidonia coastal area and its beaches with Posidonia banquettes. Particular attention will be devoted to the 7 action framework plans (AFP) that are strategic planning tools aimed at improving governance and management measures and at enhancing the resilience on the Posidonia coastal zone of the involved Protected Areas. These AFPs are based on the knowledge and the information acquired during the testing activities at 7 different pilot sites and through consultation procedures with representatives of public administrations, local stakeholders, researchers.

Marine Protected Areas, Coastal Municipalities and all bodies engaged in the management of beaches with Posidonia banquettes are kindly invited to join the event.
