Creating synergies to enhance the benefits of the adoption of management solutions based on nature

Discussing the importance of near-shore Posidonia meadows, beach with banquettes formation and associated dunes with the Natural Environment and Climate Change Agency of Greece

The assemblage of near-shore Posidonia meadows, beach with banquettes formation and associated dunes consists a significant ecological system that we need to better understand, in order to enhance management decisions on adaptation, policy, planning and advocacy.

A few days ago, HSPN held a meeting with the Natural Environment and Climate Change Agency (Οργανισμός Φυσικού Περιβάλλοντος και Κλιματικής Αλλαγής-ΟΦΥΠΕΚΑ), the body that implements the policy formulated by the Ministry of Environment and Energy of Greece, for the management of Protected Areas, biodiversity conservation, promotion and implementation of sustainable development actions and climate change mitigation.

During the meeting we discussed about the importance of this significant ecological system and we highlighted the need for the adoption of an integrated coastal management approach that support the natural processes of the Posidonia beach-dune system.

Synergies in this context, enhance the benefits of the adoption of management solutions based on nature.
